My co-worker constantly extols the virtues of the iPhone4S. Too bad it wasn’t updated to be named the iPhone4G, maybe sells reps would willingly sell it then, lol. Thanks to a tip from Intomobile , apparently CNN Money conducted a random test by walking into Verizon Wireless stores and expressing an interest in a new smartphone. Here is what they found:
In each of the 10 discussions, representatives steered me toward either the Motorola (MMI) Droid Razr Maxx, the Droid Razr, or the LG Lucid — all 4G-capable phones running Google’s (GOOG, Fortune 500) Android software. When I asked if those devices were better than the iPhone, they responded that the iPhone was an inferior alternative because it only runs on the company’s slower 3G network.
Is this one more “ding” for Apple? We know the reps make less off of the iPhone but now having 4G reception counts too? This must have come down from Big Red themselves. I can’t see the sales people caring about the quality of the customer’s phone calls. Their commission, yes. Phone signal? Doubtful. What do you think?
