As crazy as this sounds, there is a way to navigate with your Android but without the constant need for gps. That sounds crazy right? Not according to an email I received:
Hi, we are three german students who developed the FIRST Navigation App for Android which works completely without GPS. It works step- and direction-based and it´s only for pedestrian navigation. The beta Version of our app can be downloaded from the Market. Here is the Market-Link:play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ilm.sandwich&feature=search_result With our beta version we are taking part in a Contest by HTC (HTC – The Tomorrow Talks). With a bit of luck, maybe we are going to the european finals. The contest is just 10more days. Here is our contest contribution on HTC: www.thetomorrowtalks.com/videos/details/2053/ …
Yeah, that’s kinda cool right? The maker warns me that it’s still in beta phase but my next post will be about how accurate it was walking through Philadelphia. Look below for the video. Look above for the download link.
