[UPDATE- Ok after further review this whole post could be wrong, totally wrong but I'll leave it up just in case I'm so totally right]
The big news today is that Google bought a company that made a real hip apple/iPhone app called Sparrow. I’ve never seen the app before but judging by the beta windows version below Google is about to make a unified messaging app of sorts. Why would they do that?
Well Google really has not done anything on the android app side lately since they were hard at work making android 4.1.1 secure and smooth as butter(butta). Now it is understandably time to create or refine the apps in their existing android catalog. Gmail has been looking better as of late but the[edit: multi-account email app looks horrible. ]
How do you fix that? Well if the below video is any indication Google wants to merge your [edit: yahoo, live, etc plus gmail ]email, facebook, linkedin and Twitter messages together. That sounds great for the user. One stop shop for almost everything message related. No more opening and then closing 4 different apps to do one thing: send or receive a message. Plus the new gmail will have a one up on the aforementioned apps because no one will have gmail mixed in too.
Yes this means apple and iPhone users won’t be the only ones multitasking and yes this probably means the windows version will be shelved. Sorry about that but android users need beautiful productive apps too… watch the video below and tell the dev what a great job he did.
