Wow, this is really going down hill fast. We spoke previously about viruses on the smartphone but what we didn’t discuss was security updates. All computer systems almost monthly update themselves with “patches”. It’s so consistent that most virus makers create and send out malware on the day after hoping no one has installed the patches yet.
So things move a little slower when it comes to mobile phones and usually the best way to have a secure smartphone is to have the latest operating system. Right now Android 2.3 is latest for a phone and 3.2 for tablets. So below is a short list of devices supposedly not up to date and vulnerable due to lack of security patches.
- Samsung Galaxy Mini
- HTC Desire
- Sony Ericsson Xperia X10
- Sanyo Zio
- HTC Wildfire
- Samsung Epic 4G
- LG Optimus S
- Samsung Galaxy S
- Motorola Droid X
- LG Optimus One
- Motorola Droid 2
- HTC Evo 4G
If your device is in this list, search above to see when/if you’ll get gingerbread or icecream sandwich…
