As I write this, I hope my Blu Studio 5.3 doesn’t disintegrate in my hands. I read yesterday in forbes.com about poor alibaba.com and their want to build and independent mobile operating system. Now Google responds officially and unofficially.
It looks like most reporters are unaware how open Android truly is. I’m sure most major manufacturers are approved by Google, but there are hundreds of lesser known companies in china providing great android phones too. Are they above board with Google? I can only assume so because these androids have the approved mtk6577 chip and the play market. China is making a killing with android so alibaba must really want to be like Amazon.com to nick the system. This is not Google being evil, this is Google trying to stop yet another company from making android a closed ecosystem.
It is bad enough only the kindle fire products has the video on demand app. Why would they allow another huge juggernaut create apps just for themselves? Android is about openness and the leveling of the playing field, not hording the tech just for yourself.
So Google please dont press the allkill button and kick my phone off of play in response to the selfish ones. Also, please don’t stop Zopo and Bedove and others from properly using android. We need competition to force innovation. Look what you did to the iPhone 5, we are clearly winning the mobile OS market. Read thenextweb.com/asia/2012/09/15/google-android-bomb-china/
