I must admit, using just android for mobile computing has made me rely heavily on Google products like Google play. I can also see how selling the Nexus 7 is a great chance to market their multimedia offerings.
However it will be an uphill battle with Amazon already established and delivering excellent digital products as well. What’s even better about amazon is that they are across multiple platforms like the roku box and others. I understand Google wants to slightly use the closed garden formula like Apple with iTunes, but will it work? Amazon is great because they are practically open. If they put their video on demand app out for everyone they will then be completely open. Can Google play compete with that? Make it work with rooted androids and we’ll really find out then…
