[This might be an April Fool's joke because although I saw it on TV too, the link just died on the abc site...]I’m always told at work that I’m going to get a ticket If I don’t look up while emailing and texting. Unfortunately my work for the day arrives via email in real-time. My Android devices beeps and whistles throughout the day, be it voice calls, emails, instant messages or/and texts. What are we to do?
Thankfully, Philadelphia in its efforts to stay cool has downplayed the texting while walking tickets and focused on making a pathway for distracted pedestrians. Is this a good idea? In the are they testing, yes this is a great idea. In that location, many business people and political figures walk about on their way to lunch and other places. During that time issues occur that still require their attention. This leads to the head down, walking down the street look. Whether it is with an Android, iPhone, Windows Phone or Blackberry, business is business and it happens in real-time. Thanks Philly for recognizing that. Hopefully they will paint more sidewalks the same way. What do you think?
The City of Philadelphia debuted an Electronic Device Lane, designated for people who get distracted on their electronic devices while walking.
