The programme has been hailed a huge success, after showing a double digit uplift in sales within the first week of the promotion going live.
Shoppers were rewarded with a token each time they purchased a beverage from City Café, which they were able to exchange for an exclusive Angry Birds plush pen once they had collected nine tokens.
The powerful Angry Birds franchise, popular with technology lovers the world over, has captured the publics imagination and is already so successful that featuring the Angry Birds promotion in City Café’s national television advertising campaign was a critical tactic as part of the strategy to change shopper behaviour.
Retaining its place in the best selling app’s for 2011, Angry Birds is set for an even more successful 2012 as retailers look toward capitalising on the popularity of the franchise to boost sales and increase shopper frequency.
